(among other art works)

Ninong Badong and Euan (Ninong ka na!)

Having a balikbayan for a friend is among the signs of aging. But having one is also a sign of once in awhile free lunch. Our dear friend (natawa ako sa dear friend) Alfredo is now visiting the country after some months or almost a year of work in Singapore, at dahil nandito siya, nagyaya siya ng lunch sa Cafe Lidia, ang best as of the moment restaurant here in Marikina. (For that, thank Badong sa lunch, parang hindi kami nakapag-thank you ng aking pamilya). Kasama rin namin sina Vanny at ang mag ama niyang sina Kria at Jhay at ang ikakasal na next week na si Regina!

The main restaurant is full, as usual, and the place, the side area was under age/construction/renovation so, hindi kami pwede dun. However, binuksan nila ang kanilang function room, which was a revelation. the floor hid some art pieces that are actually of good quality, and with this i mean religious. alam naman natin ngayon, Matapos ang Issue ni Mideo Cruz, medyo critical na naman ang concept ng art.

Forgive the poor quality of the pictures. Gamit ko ang N900 ko, hindi nadala ang digicam dahil hiniram ng kapatid. Pero sa barangay na lang ang paliwanag. Back to the works. The first and the third paintings were signed by several names. Parang collaboration ang mga gawang ito. Ibig sabihin, isa lang ang mamatay sa mga artists nito, magmamahal na. Wow. Good marketing strategy iyun.

Other than religious paintings, there are other more.

Further hidden are nude sketches and paintings. Ito na yung mga pasabog. Sino kaya ang mga babaeng ito. Though other than that, napaka conservative kasi ng place, then to my surprise, may mga ganitong works sa place. Cool.
